Kentucky license costs

So I hunted in Kentucky one time prior to Covid, Maybe 2018 or 2019? And I don't remember the cost but I just looked at current license costs for non residents and it's crazy! $235 for the deer license and $160 for the annual? A bit shocked it's gotten that high, last I remember it was somewhere around $250 I thought? When did the price go up and why is it so expensive??

This year costed more than last year. I think it was like $360ish for non-resident last year.

Take a look at non-resident license in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho. That's a bargain.

It went up this year, I think for the 2 license it was $335 the last few years. I hunted Kentucky in 2014 and it was $235

Oklahoma more than doubled theirs, it's over $700 for non-resident. It was around $300

My father in law has been saying for the last 5 years or so that hunting is becoming a rich man's sport. Seems like it's becoming true to some extent.

Try buying out of state license in Arkansas. Close to $500 bucks. Oh the price we pay for having fun and enjoying life.

Sounds about right if you think about it. Everything has doubled in cost after 2020. It's ridiculous but I dont see prices ever coming back down

I think a resident cost is $35 from some talks with ky folks, some are wanting the out of state license raised to keep their costs low. at some point folks are going to have to step up and pay a fair share to support it. folks get priced out at some point, heck I am already there lol

My sportsman is $95. I think out of state went up something like $25 from last year. I paid out of state for 20 years until I moved on the KY side in 2021. Saved me on the KY side but of course have to buy out of state for TN if I decide to hunt there lol. I can't remember what I paid for Illinois but pretty sure it was $400 something and that's just to be able to hunt 2 weekends in Dec.

we pay $325 for 1 ES and 1 antlerless permit (2 total deer) in IL plus $35-$55 license fee every year for 7 total days of the firearms season. Archery full season is more reasonable for the number of days but over $400 for the season.

I dont know...I buy 3 for last time this year for kids. Between travel, hotels, food, etc., I guarantee you our venison costs more than our beef ribeyes. It is also a lot of work! I drove 4.5 hours back home last night ....need a break.

Turkey: $188.86
Deer: $494.47
Elk: $825.03
Pronghorn: $494.47

One thing ive learned traveling to many different states hunting is how widely the NR tag prices vary. One that really surprised me was California Turkey which was under $25 for a tag! I expected CA to be one of the highest yet its the cheapest so far.

The reason turkey licenses are so cheap there is because you can't use a gun. Proposition 65, known to cause cancer. So you have to sneak up and choke the turkey. LOL. If it was free I wouldn't hunt there.

I see your point .I'm blessed to hunt an hour an a half from home. My year round rent is real cheap I mean cheap.
Very blessed to have access to 5 farms in Christian and Trigg counties.
I'll continue to pay whatever as long as I physically can make the hunt.

But dang that 1 side ;) , Tag soup tates like yugo, had it many a time and probably will have a platter of it again at some point, good luck it ain't over yet.

Might have still shot him lol unique racks are cool to me, but I get it, there's a big difference between Tns 2 buck tags and KYs 1. Gotta be more selective

I just paid $85 to overnight my son's background weapons form to Fort Knox for our quota hunt. Should have done it a month ago......No guarantee it will be ready when we get there or for awhile but keeping our fingers crossed. It is a lot of work to hunt the places I go. And, we are not very good hunters. :D

I paid to hunt my 30 minutes in KY this year It is hard for me to stomach for these 2-3 day quota hunts but the hunting is so much better than what I'm used to.
