Kentucky Elk draw

Wow, 16 pages of successful draw hunters. I guess I didn't realize KY had such a large and successful population of elk. TN seems to be slow in getting past only a few bulls. Maybe one day! It sure would be nice.

Thanks for posting. I have been applying since 2001 and no luck yet!

Ky elk herd is phenomenal.

I got drawn! Firearm cow tag. I put in for both bull tags and firearm cow tag.

I now realize that I have a big informational hurdle in front of me, as I know zero people who have hunted elk in Kentucky and don't live close enough to scout ahead of time.

I've sorta factored that into my back-of-my mind plans, and am considering a guide (depending on cost). I actually dropped out of my hunting club this year because I decided to focus on small game, public land deer, and duck (and now elk). The money savings on dropping the lease frees up funds for doing something with this trip.

If any of you have some information or contacts I should consider, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

Silver lining to all this...I've been in a weight loss challenge at work that I haven't taken super seriously, but I've still dropped 13 pounds or so. This will give me some motivation to work on my physical fitness with more purpose, which I'm actually really excited about.

Congrats on the tag. It sounds like you are already off to a good start with your prep. Let us know how you do.
