Got in the spots Wed. morning on Old Hickory. Kept a nice limit in the 1.5-2-pound range. To me, they are about as good eating as crappie.

They turned on for about an hour. Caught them in 2-4-feet of water on a dropoff to 28-feet. Been catching one or two there for years but for some reason, they were stacked in there Wed. probably caught 10-12 in an hour just going back and forth along the same bluff.

I've never really noticed much difference between largemouth, spots, and smallie taste. Nice to hear you got into them though, I don't catch them often but I do like the coloration on those fish.

didn't know OH had a lot of them. How do they taste compared to a smallmouth?
there are a ton of them out on the river but i dont catch them in the creeks on old hickory for some reason. I have noticed that they dont grow big there compared to center hill or dale hollow. I never caught one over 2 lbs or heard of one but on the other 2 lakes you will catch several between 2 and 4 lbs.
to me they are a lot better than small mouth to eat.
