Keeper Eyes

I only fish for walleye a few times a year and am not very good at it. Also isn't very often I catch a keeper, no make that 2 keepers in an evening.

The bite was slow from sunset till 9:45 pm and then I caught 4 fish by 11 pm and then the bite died again. Also missed a couple of fish.

Very cool man.
They recently re-opened Carroll Lake here and have stocked some of them in it.
I have only been there three times since they re-opened it but I am hoping to catch one eventually.

No clue how to fish for them though but I figure one will eventually eat a Bobby Garland jig

they probably will, but they can be picky eaters and I'm not very good at consistently catching them. They stock the crap out of Normandy lake with walleye and I've struggled to catch them there. Also they prefer cooler water

Yeah I was really shocked to hear they put them here.
That lake averages about 6' deep.
I wonder if that would influence the taste of them at all?

I have no idea. That is a weird place to stock walleye. My pond is only 5' deep and stays green all summer, so you'd think the fish would taste muddy, but the catfish are some of the best tasting channel cats I've eaten. So who knows.

I'm jealous! We trolled crankbaits and jigs for them last week below Watts Bar dam...from daylight til around noon. Didn't boat the first one. Not even a short. We couldn't keep the stupid drum and channel cats off us long enough. I hate both of those. Everyone has been catching them trolling and several were down there fishing for them. They all said the same thing...caught em good the day before but none the next day. That's always my story lol

Good eating right there! Back when I used to target them, we always just fished of points close to the channel. Kept it simple jigging a night crawler on a jig head under lights.

Similar to what I've always done. Long shallow, gravel points with a jerk bait. Those are some nice walleyes Cat.
