I am wanting to get into kayak fishing. Been looking at Jackson's Coosa and their Cuda 12. Any body use either of these? If so which do you like best? I live in the Cookeville area and would be using it mostly in small rivers like the Calfkiller and Roaring river and a couple of small city lakes.
 
I think there is a Jackson dealer up that way(I think its called caney fork canoe but not sure)if you get to Nashville any go to hook1 in Hendersonville,they have everything you could think of for a kayak,they carry wilderness kayaks..i bought a ride 135 with the high seat and my wife got a tarpon 120.we love ours.i can stand up and fish out of the ride
 
Those Jackson kayaks are nice but they're a bit pricy. From what I've been gathering (I've been doing my research because I too am about to buy a fishing kayak) you can get a Wilderness Ride series or Tarpon series kayak for cheaper and just as good quality. There is a place in Cookeville that has Jackson kayaks and you can demo one for 50 bucks a day. If you like it, you can buy it and that 50 bucks goes toward your purchase. If not, you don't get your money back. At HOOK1 (Wilderness dealer) you can take any kayak out all day for no charge, just leave a credit card for collateral. That's the route I'm going. In my opinion, charging you to demo one is stupid. You don't pay to test drive a car so why pay to test "drive" a kayak?

The Ride 115 is a pretty sweet deal. I'll be taking it out for a spin next week and most likely buying that one from them. The guys at HOOK1 are very knowledgeable and are all kayak fishermen so if you tell them what type of fishing you'll be doing, they'll set you up with what you need.

PS - I lived in Cookeville for 4 years while attending TTU (graduating this semester so Thursday is my last day there) and I can tell you some good places to bring that kayak. Don't overlook Cane Creek Park. It's a small pond but it's full of bass, just nothing big. I've been wearing them out lately on topwaters. I'm assuming you know about the Caney Fork, definitely take it there and also during the early Spring while Center Hill is still low, take it to one of the marinas and work those shallow banks, full of LM and SM bass.
