Kansas Questions

Has anybody on here ever turkey hunted Kansas? SE Kansas to be specific. I have a buddy who's grandparents live on the OK/KS border and was just wondering what people on here thought about public land hunting out there?

I have deer hunted public access land in SE Kansas the past two years (WIHA land) and saw plenty of turkey and deer there. Not sure how much WIHA land is open during turkey season. I think there is less available than during deer season. There are several WMA's, though.

Thanks. It's just a thought right now. But I do enjoy a good out of state hunt.

When I deer hunted out there I talked to a few farmers bout turkey. I asked if I could shoot one on his place and his response was "nope". "But if I shoot every one you can your welcome back."

Seems farmers don't care much for them out there. Knock on some doors and I would bet 1 out of 4 will let you hunt.

I'd love to hunt out there. I believe the Heartland Bowhunter guys are from Kansas, right?

Thanks tasaman. Again I'd like to get a couple more TN birds before I make that drive but I would enjoy it. Get to scout some deer property while I was at it too. Not sure about the Heartland Bowhunters.
