Kansas Deer hunting?

Anyone have any experience with "walk in access" in Kansas?
I have the points to draw a deer tag. I've just started looking at public land and I see several areas of walk in access on private. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I bird hunt there. Last I checked it's like 3 million acres. Be prepared to burn a lot of fuel scouting. Escouting doesn't work for a lot of the walk in as it changes every year depending on the ag rotation. Having said that there is quite a bit of ground available. Some of the state parks are open and there's at least one refuge that is open also and it's a lot of ground. Kansas is a lot like hunting further west chasing blocks of public, watching good bucks on private catching them crossing public. I love it. I'm gonna be guarded here and not give any specifics, but if I were you I'd go no matter what.

I agree with post above 110%.
I'll just add that the people in Kansas are awesome too. We had some vehicle issues coming back from Wyoming this fall and couldn't have ran into better people the entire way.

Nothing specific, but I hunted a mix of public and private around the Kensington area in 2024. We were there late October. It was warm and the corn was still standing so hunting was tough. I've heard that after the corn is down, bucks are more visible. Wonder why?

It never snowed the times I was out there but my buddies had been there when it had and they talked like it was like no other.

I spent a winter there working in addition to hunting. We would run 70 in the snow on pavement, but when it warmed a little all the backroads are graded dirt. They do a pretty good job of crowning and if u meet oncoming traffic and have to get out of the middle it gets interesting. A whole new kind of alick

Hunted ML there once which is the last two weeks of Sept. Nothing more frustrating than getting glimpses of big big racks & legs in standing corn

There are a lot of good places for "walk in" hunting in parts of Kansas. The places I have seen are loaded with Mule Deer not whitetails, but my experience is in NW Kansas. My wife owns land in Nebraska and Kansas. It doesn't matter, I can't hunt on it without a tag.
