he has a Classic Featherweight 270 WSM,,with his scoliosis I aint sure he will be able to tolerate the recoil, what would it be worth LNNB,,

I have my eye on a CZ 550 Full Stock in 6.5x55,

I'd vote to download the sucker as well. Both IMR and AA make powders for reduced recoil/report without risking the pressure spike.

130g BT's around 2700fps should be reasonable. As he gets older, he can grow into the gun and you can work your way up in velocity. Otherwise, in a few years, he may get magnumitis and wish he still had the 270WSM.

As much as I agree with a try at reduced loads, actually starting loads with 110-130grs should be OK in that M-70,before getting another one. I have to agree with MR Big I think that rifle is too Big for his son at present, for the same reasons as he posted above. If he can handle the rifles size, reduced loads likely wouldn't have much felt recoil if at all,I don't think that would pose a problem for the young man then.
