My youngest son (12) went Sunday morning and had the opportunity to bag his first buck. He spotted the deer before I did crossing a field, when it stopped on the other side he took his time and made the shot. I was looking through the binocs and it looked like he hit the deer but it ran into the woods and we werent certain. After waiting awhile, we got down and walked over. It took about 5 minutes or so to find the first blood but after I spotted it, he took over and tracked the deer for almost 100 yards through the woods till he found him. I just followed along and let him do it. 12 year old eyes are much sharper than 49 year old eyes for certain. To say we were both excited would be an understatement.
The deer was 6 points and the shot was ranged with my rangefinder at 157 yards. Both lungs exploded. TC Encore in .308 with 165 grain bullet.
