I know this has been asked before, but I just want to make sure. Are extra permits or anything that needs to be purchased for the juvenile hunt? Does the adult have to have an extra license? How is the deer checked in, and does it count for the adult's limit? Thanks in advance!

I don't think the adult has to have any license at all. Just be over 21 and in position to take control of the firearm immediately in needed.

If the child has a license, the childs TWRA Id number is used. If they do not have a TWRA Id number then the childs social security number is used.

It does not count against the adults limit.

I think this answers most but not all. I'm not entirely sure on extra permits as it may pertain to WMA's and such.

The most important part is that the juvenile actually holds the gun, puts the sight(s) on the deer, and pulls the trigger. If all the kid does is just pull the trigger of a gun an adult is holding and sighting, it is an adult illegally hunting.

On the juvenile hunt the adult is not required to be licensed, but as stated they have to be where they can take immediate control of the juvenile's hunting weapon. They must also meet the 500 sq inches of blaze orange on upper body AND head.

Always makes me have a double-take when I see a pic posted of some 4 year old feckle-face girl in Dora the Explorer pajamas who supposedly has made a 193 yard shot on 150 inch main frame 8 point with her daddy's 30/06.

It is very obvious around a checking station on who killed the deer when they come in. When Dad makes the (illegal) kill, the kid has nowhere near the excitement in their face/voice.

It is really pathetic to see Dad's that are so selfish that they do it themselves. And, it really starts the kid off right with the message that it is OK to violate game laws as long as you get by with it.
