Well after selling 10 guns in the past month I finally have the money to rebarrel my last 2 rifles. I have a craving for accuracy and tend to lean more towards to tactical/position shooting more than bench. I already rebarreled my rem 700 223 to a bartlein 5r 8 twist heavy varmint cut to 20 inches with the action trued, bedded in a b and c a3 stock with a timney 510. Next was my 7mm08 model 7 which went to a brux 3 contour 9 twist cut to 22 inches. The last 2 are going to be my 308 and 300wsm. Bugholes is fluting both barrels for me before shipping. I will have a Krieger rem varmint contour for my 308 cut to 16 inches bedded in a greyboe stock, timney trigger and Leupold vx6 3-18. Last my 300wsm will be on a brux 4 contour cut to 24 inches and braked, bedded in a b and c medalist with a timney and a Leupold vxiii 4.5-14. I will have a ton of money (to me) invested in these but will be exactly what I want. All 4 will be cerakoted and ready to use. Just need trump to pass a hearing conservation act and suppressors will be ordered.
 
since I bought my first Bartlien bbl I havent even looked at a factory rifle,,having them chambered and throated for a certain bullet is something you just cant get from an over the counter rifle,,

I will say I like mine quiet a bit longer than you do but thats just another thing you can get like you want it with a custom bbl,,

Greg at Bugholes is a good dude also,,is he chambering your bbls also or just fluting them??

He is only fluting them sadly. He said he is backed up over 7 months right now and isn't taking new customers unless it is a full custom and not a semi. The gunsmith I have used here near home had done a good job on the last 2 He has done for me so I am taking them to him. My next rifle will be a full custom and I will have Greg build it. I'm wanting a 280ai and it will have a barrel closer to your liking. It will be a 26 inch. Most of my rifles are hunted with with the exception of the 308 which may still see deer woods and the 223 which may still shoot a yote. Those long tubes make a difficult carry. Lol

I have a Brux #4 on one of my 300 WSM's and it shoots very well; you will be quite pleased. Are you throating it for any specific bullet? Based on the other cartridges you have, I'd recommend the 215gr Berger Hybrid.
 
I won't be throating for a specific bullet and will probably stay with the 180gr accubond. I know some people love the Berger but it just really isn't my cup of tea performance wise. I'm a bonded bullet guy as they have served me well this far. I may step up to the 200gr accubond but kinda doubt it. The 308 will be with 175 grain matchkings more than likely but could possibly change it up to an eld or eld x. This whole process is a lot more exciting than buying a gun to me.

We definitely will buddy! Just need to get the barrels in, Smith work done, barrel break in done and load development done. Lol
 
whats really cool about these rifles is that you get to thinking about needing a varmint rifle and you can get your smith to chamber you up another bbl in any caliber you want that will work with your boltface and just screw one bbl off and screw the other bbl on,,I have a Stiller Tac 30 action in an AICS 1.5 Chassis with a 6BR,6BRDX,243 Win and 6.5x47 Lapua barrels,and would like to have a 20BR and a 284 Shehane to go with those,,,
the 300 WSM you are doing would have to have a 6.5 Gap 4S bbl to switch with,,the 300 with the 215s is an awesome round but the 6.5 Gap shooting the 140 Hybirds at 3300 fps is a kick butt caliber also,,

it`s worse than cocaine I tell ya,,LOL
 
I stopped buying new guns years ago . Match grade barrels by most makers can be had for under $400. Even cheaper if you thread and chamber them yourself like I do. I couldn't be happier with them. There are a lot of great barrel makers out there to choose from. As for the 300, I also like Accubond but in the 200gr variety on top of a max load of RL22. Enjoy those bugholes.
 
My lugs are pinned so it wouldn't be hard to swap barrels for sure. I could do a barrel swap on the 7mm08 or 308 for a lot of 308 based cartridges. I don't know that I will ever be able to go to another factory rifle myself. I do still have a tikka 30-06 that is my go to deer rifle and an ar for predators.
