I don't bow hunt, but a friend of mine arrowed a doe today and when he found her, she was still alive and unable to run off. How do you guys take care of this when bow hunting?

Walk up and stab her in the heart. Just be cautious of her feet and head she will kick you if able and her hoofs are sharp trust me
 
I don't bow hunt so hard for me to say. I carry a M.L. pistol during M.L. and a 357 during big gun.I have used a knife on a buck and almost got stuck myself. Don't want to make a big deal about it but FYI a knife is not a legal weapon.I guess I'd use a arrow in the neck.A neck shot is deadly and less meat wasted.

Yep. knife or rocks are not for me. but the risk of injuring deer is why i quit bow hunting
 
Some people just finish them with a .45 handgun round then log them. I have only killed a doe with my bow and she dropped 25 yards away. I was lucky.

A knife to the throat isn't "legal" if the deer is down and unable to run away? Really? I've only had to do it once but it was simple, quick, and humane.

I used to slit the throat. Over the last few years when needed, I make a quick heart stab and it works quick with little mess and thrashing.
