Buy one of these if you don't already have one. $8.99 is cheap insurance to keep all of your deer(and other frozen food) from ruining if your freezer dies. Not to mention the mess that can be made from 100 pounds of thawed meat/fish etc...

Seems like we have 2 or 3 threads per year when someone loses everything in their freezer.

I had the same experience about 5 or 6 years ago...pretty disgusting, both literally and figuratively.

I believe I got that same thermometer you showed in your link.

I used to have a circuit breaker that would trip every month or so, and finally realized it was an air compressor with some sort of electrical fault inside. Before getting rid of it, it tripped off my garage's freezer like 8 times.

That little alarm paid for itself many times over!
