Just a quick rant

This summer I started out with 8 cameras. 1 Covert Extreme Black 60, 1 Moutrie M990i, 2 Walmart Bushnells, 2 Primos Truth Cam Ultra 35, 1 Primos TC 35, and my old WGI cam.

It started with my two Bushnells not working.. They drained the batteries and one would not take pics. One was out of warranty. I have a replacement to the other now (not that it means anything, it might last til the end of season) Then next my brand new M990i quit after 10 days. Also have a replacement to it now. A few weeks ago my WGI stopped taking pics. It turns on and detects as indicated by the light, but does nothing. Now today I checked the two Primos TCU35 and BOTH drained new batteries and will not take a picture. I have the receipt but I cant remember where I put it. Hopefully I find it or I will be left only having 4 cams. They picked the best time of year to tear up too :crazy:


Guess I'll be sticking with Covert and maybe the high end Bushnell cams hoping they don't fail within a year. I like the M990i but seeing as I've already had one crap out, I'll avoid them at this point.

Don't be like me and regret your cheap purchases. Buy a good cam with good customer service.. Bushnell has good service. They took mine back with no receipt and returned it within a week.. Just avoid the cheap ones.

I started with 5 cameras, my primos truth cam got stolen and one of my wildgame cameras just quit working, had it for like 5 years though so not to bad and I've got a bushnell trophy cam that is starting to take all whited out pics so it is about to go but I'be had it for like 8 years so once again, not too upset

I got some old Moultries I'm still running. The rest are Covert. I haven't bought nothing but Covert lately and don't plan on buying nothing but Covert from here on out. I have heard they don't make Moultries like they used to. Buddy of mine has had 2 newer ones fail under a year old..

Which would be strange, because the early Moultries were absolute crap. Seems like they hit one or two years of quality products, and then went back down hill.

Anyone dealt with Primos CS before? The cams are still under warranty. I have the receipt somewhere but cant find it. Going to see if they'll take them anyways. I'll probably sell the replacements if I get them and buy another Covert.

BSK-how well do your Uway cams work? I never hear much about them

I have 3 Moultrie white flash that I've had for I know 7 years+.. They still work perfectly. I actually have another Moultrie that is the big black one, I'd say at least 10 years old.. Not sure the models but all are still being used and out at the moment.

Knock on wood... but I've always had good luck with Moultrie. I've threw several Cuddebacks and Wildgame cams in the trash..

In most cases you get what you pay for. It almost makes me sick paying what I pay for ReconyX cameras when I could get 2.5 other cameras and cover more territory. BUT... I know they're going to be working all season every season for years to come without breaking the bank on batteries and not missing any pics.

I know they're going to be working all season every season for years to come without breaking the bank on batteries and not missing any pics.

Absolutely true Mike. To date, I still have every Reconyx I've ever purchased. None have had a problem that couldn't be fixed, and Reconyx has always been good about fixing even my oldest units. But I have a hard time justifying their cost anymore, considering how well some of the newer Chinese cams are performing.

I've got a bunch of them, and the only failures I've experienced are on units 4 years old or older. At $170, I'll take 4 years of life and be happy with it.

What I like most about them is the ability to plug in and control through the cameras menu a super powerful IRB-2 flash extender. For $80, those flash extenders blast out some black light. I regularly get over 130 feet of night-time illumination with them. Can't beat that when trying to monitor a food plot or other open area.

That's the model I was contemplating buying. It's a bit cheaper than Covert EB60 and camoutdoor sells them.

I've had good luck with my A5 Moltries as far as battarey life and getting decent pics. Not the best cams by any means but probably the best under $100.

I'm with ya. I've been running the same Bushnell IR Trophy Cams since 2010 (maybe 2009 even). One tends to not always keep time correctly but I can't complain about that. I've yet to go black but I hear if you ever do you won't go back.

We have been using the coverts for three years now and had few problems. A couple were replaced under warranty but the others have been stellar. I hate to think how much I have put into cameras that are junk now. I had one of the first film model camtrackers I paid $500 for about 20 years ago. It had an actual camera wired into it and worked well for a few years.

Guess what-the Moultrie M990i has crapped out now. I last checked it Oct 23. I got to the cam and it wouldn't turn on. Optimistically and ignorantly I thought I would have so many pics the batteries ran down.. Put the card in my computer and only 27 pics. All on Oct 23. The batteries were left at nearly full charge. Sure enough, I got home and put new ones in and nothing.
