I have a great remembrance for this date. On JUNE 19, 1972 at 9 am, WAS at Greyhound bus station in Birmingham Al. To start my 2-year greetings from Mr. PRESIDENT NIXON.

We all appreciate your patriotism and thank you for trying. 1972 I was out in'69. Trust me you didn't miss anything. I was proud of what I did, but it was for nothing. Just like Iraq & Afghanistan was for nothing.I was probably in Nashville taking a physical for the draft. The war was declining somewhat and their standards were lessened a little. I was a little overweight and got declined. I was relieved then but have always regretted not serving. With that said I thank you for yours.
I believe some sort of mandatory civic service should be required for ALL citizens, women included.I had number 28 in the draft LOTTERY, so I knew that I was going to go, even though LOTTERY, OR GAMBLING WAS NOT LEGAL IN Alabama, BUTT. Seems like 2 years was a long time, and it was in some respects, but I am proud to have done it for my COUNTRY. I think that all 20-year-old should do some military training for the country, which makes you grow up and respect the great nation that we have!
After I volunteered, I found out my lottery number was 13. How's that for luck, huh?I had number 28 in the draft LOTTERY, so I knew that I was going to go, even though LOTTERY, OR GAMBLING WAS NOT LEGAL IN Alabama, BUTT. That would be like the Israelis and well prepared for anything.I believe some sort of mandatory civic service should be required for ALL citizens, women included.
