For all you jug fishermen, how deep do you rig your jugs? What baits do you use? What kind of spots do you put jugs? Main channel, coves, how deep water do you fish?

Best luck I have seen we were fishing in and around the channel of the Cumberland at Dover.

We would put in right before dark and fish all night.
We would set out the jugs with a hook depth of 4 to 6 feet.

The catfish would come up at night and feed. We had more success in the channel than we did in coves but caught fish in both.

Mind you with that being said, the channel / river isn't very wide at that point.
Don't know if that mattered or not.

Like ruger said we put in at dover last week put out our jugs dept around 4 ft average put small kim lights on top ane put in the main channel and we put in around 75 pounds per night with this set up.

Me and the boys did a lil jugging last week on Norris a few nights near the mouth of the Powell river. We had our best luck in the mouths of coves and about 6-10 ft seemed to do best on the depth. We used cut bait and hot dogs with equal success on both. Also caught a big soft shell turtle close to 16 inches across, the boys loved it!!

You oughta try jug-fishing in the Mississippi, now that's interesting.
Drift along with the jugs like you are in a flock of decoys.
Hint/tip: If a barge comes along...abandon the flock.
LOL.
