I am a noodle guy myself, and mostly jug/noodle in the lake, although I am going to be hitting the river hard once the riverhouse in Florence Al gets finished remodeled. If you are in a lake, I'll tell you what has been tested and proven for me time and time again in the lakes that I fish often. For big blues 12ft - 14 ft depth (in 20ft deep water), usually line noodles up across the mouth of a cove, and cutbait seems to work the best although I am going to try chicken breast for them also. Patience works also, as the big blues don't seem near as active as channel cats. For channel cats, especially 2-5 lb... TREETOPS,TREETOPS,TREETOPS... Anywhere you see a sign of a sunken tree in the water, or maybe along the bank where a log or tree has fallen and is submerged is usually a guaranteed channel for us. All of my noodles for this vary in depth 6ft to 10ft, regardless of water depth. I use rooster liver, and have tried chicken breast recently and really pleased with it.. but in the summer time, vary rarely leave the lake without limiting out. The only downside with the treetops is be prepared to have the noodles hang up sometimes. If thats the case and there is a fish on, don't be so quick to break the line as a lot of times I will pull and then give some slack and more times than not the fish will unhang itself. Thats where the 6ft length comes in handy also, a lot less line to tangle. Anyways, good luck to you. My daughter, and my friends kids absolutely love it... and as a result has got me "hooked"
