"Post season scouting has become the foundation of my annual hunting plan and I'm quite sure I originated the concept and was definitely the first to write about it in the early 1990's."

Interesting, considering I've never heard of the guy.

x2

"Bowhunting October Whitetails" video has been out for about 30 years, Gene and Barry was giving seminars in the early 80's talking
about it, I first saw the back then they where talking about it and got some of us started. But I also understand many on here
wasn't hunting or even born back then.....For the FT C boys you should have seen Clarksville Base in the late 70's the

Never heard of him, huh....

I found out about John Eberhart shortly after I joined TNDeer. His book "Bowhunting Pressured Whitetails" has been one of the most recommended books on this site and others.

Guy sounds a bit arrogant. I'm sure people have been post season scouting for centuries. I had never heard of the guy and what got me into post season scouting was shed hunting which was something I started doing after seeing a particular deer shed his antlers on camera. Nothing to do with "John Eberhart" He didn't do his article much favor by throwing that in there

I can't say for sure if he was the first to write about it, but he was most likely one of the first hunters to really emphasize intentional and thorough post season scouting as one of the most important aspects of successfully and consistently killing mature bucks.

Sounds like one of those Liberal Trophy Hunters.....

And that's probably why. I haven't bow-hunted in almost 25 years.

All may be true. I've just never heard of him. But then I read little written by those who focus on bow-hunting, and especially northern bow-hunting. In fact, I don't think I've read anything by a hunter (exclusively) in many years. Greg Miller's Rub-Line Secrets book being probably the last one.

Spring turkey hunting ignited my post-season deer scouting habits and shed hunting. I combine them and they all produce more success.
