Do you have a handle for yours? I cut a dried piece of cane (thick as the base of a fishing cane pole) right at the joints and tied the two ends of the rope to it. It works great, is very lightweight, plus the handle floats. 10/10 - highly recommend :)
Note that the Shappell sled is made to be used with knots behind the holes, with the loop of rope out front. By using a handle, you can use the tag ends tied to the handle, with the loop of rope inside the sled running from one hole to the other. This means that the length of rope is spreading the pulling force across the entire length of the that face of the sled. I this is superior as it's less likely to cause a failure at the mouth of the hole.
