Jet Ski Operator Requirements

I have two boys aged 15 & 17 that I am considering buying jet skis for....do they need to take a state mandated safety course before they would be legal to ride them?

Yes, to operate any vessel with an engine of 8.5 hp or more by themselves requires boater education certification if they were born after Jan. 1, 1989.
