BSK I would love your opinion as I probably bothered the daylights out of you with PMs and what not about this particular buck :D

Of course all other guesses are welcome.

4.5. He was definitely 2.5+ in 2012 just based on having a set of antlers that would not be realistic for a free roaming yearling. In 2013 he did not fill out at all in the rut like a mature buck would. Same story this year.

This was my last photo of the deer and only photo outside of September this year, but that is likely due to a few camera failures.


Here he is last year-this picture said a lot about his young age
 
Keep in mind on that last picture his neck had gotten a little more swelled :D when I killed him this year, but he still did not fill out like a 4.5 year old should even with him having the body frame larger than most deer in TN

Looks to be 4.5 by toothwear. I can agree to the trail cam pics as well - 2.5 in '12 and so forth.

Congrats again on a super deer and the dedication to kill him!
 
By the standard toothwear process, 3 1/2. Just remember that toothwear only gives you a very accurate minimum age. He is at least 3 1/2.

I'm eventually going to send off for the cementum annuli. The more I see people aging deer with any method, the more I feel the importance in realizing what you said. MINIMUM. I can't imagine how many are mislead into thinking their deer is younger than it is just because it had pretty teeth.
