I was on the phone with my grandfather the other day who grew up in PA during the great depression. He told me that when they were kids the farmers used to let them shoot pigeons around their grain silos and barns. When I asked what they did with them, he told me they ate them and they taste like dove (or chicken). I thought this was gross and he said if they eat grain and not trash they are Ok to eat.
I saw in the guidelines book that you can shoot them no limit (I believe year round). I thought this was to thin the population, but do people eat them?
