Went back this morning and saw a lot more fish and did manage to hookup on this solid 14 pounder. He followed it all the way to the boat and at the last second turned to leave and hooked himself in the head. I had about 5 foot of line out when he did and had looked away. The base of the rod came flying up into my ribs so hard it just about knocked the breath out of me. Luckily the drag was set properly and he pulled some line so I could fight him proper.
