Well,got tired of fooling with my savage 10ML,and it not shooting good..I caved to the peer pressure over on dougsmessage board,and ordered a 45cal pacnor barrel..It is expected to ship in 2 weeks time,so I should have it plenty in time for out muzzleloader season..I probably won't even buy a rifle tag this year..Just a list of what I tried with my Savage 10ML...


Powders I tried...

Reloder 7
Vhitivhouri N110 & N120
AA5744

Bullets I tried....

.452 250gr & 300gr Hornady XTP
.452 250gr Hornady FTX
.458 300gr hornady HP
.458 300gr Remington HP

Sabots I tried....

Orange MMP sabots
short black MMP sabots
Harvester black and red crush rib sabots
Harvester smooth black sabots
MMP HPH12 sabots

I spent a small fourtune trying to get this gun to shoot good,and the best I ever got was right at 1.5 inches at 100yds..I figure for a $600 muzzleloader,it should shoot alot better than 1.5 inches..

I's to late for you but a common problem is the front scope base overlaping the ring at the back of the barrel. Also, the screws that hold the action can be tricky to adjust. The guns are good but can be a pain to get to shoot. I've owned two of them.

The scope base wasn't touching the barrel nut.

Its a shame you had to go through that but you'll have a heck of a shooter with the Pac Nor. Who are you having do the barrel swap?

One of the moderators on dougsmessage board has been helping me out alot,and he has offered to do it for free. Can't say enough good things about him,he's sent me alot of bullets and sabots for me to try,at no charge to me.

My CVA kodiak gave me 1 inch groups all day long and that was $279..LOL So you'd think for $600 you should be able to get atleast a inch at 100yds...

Dang! That sucks cecil... that seems like a ton of trouble and money for a gun that you use for 2 weeks. Unless you want to rifle hunt with it. I was thinking about getting one but I believe i'll just stick with my ol' cheap wolf. Hope you get it going!

I'll have it back well before ML season gets here..And I highly doubt i'll buy a rifle tag anymore,just hunt with my smokeless..Even though i've gone through all this trouble with my savage,I still loved the thing.You hardly ever have to clean it.I'll never own another blackpowder rifle.
