Heard over a hundred gobbles...Thanksgiving morning! Can't count the number of times I've deer hunted in this spot and heard gobbling on the Roost. Not sure why because I've never heard them anywhere else.

There's usually around 20-25 gobblers in this group, had them feed by me twice this fall bowhunting.

It is coming soon though! I've been listening to the Redwing blackbirds singing setting up theit territory and been seeing doves mating.

Oh well, no point in even planning any time off to hunt...they'll be done doing their thing and poults running around by St. Patty's day.

All jokes aside, I've always wondered just how early breeding takes place. Every year there are reliable reports of poults so early that it would equate to a hen laying/setting in mid March (at least here in SW TN).

Thanks for the report!

We saw the largest group of strutters ever this past week in Middle TN 35-40 longbeards and 3 of them were dragging the ground. I have no idea where this many birds came from as in previous years we would winter 8-10 birds tops on this small parcel of ground. I'm very excited to see if they stay in the general area...
