Killed this little feller this morning.
Truth be known I thought it was a doe. Was a little upset at myself when I found him and saw it was a spike. But what the heck, i'm not much of a trophy hunter anyway. He'll eat just fine.
29 yard shot, Matrix 380, 125 gr. Spitire. Went 50 yards or so.
Already skinned, quartered and put on ice.
Going back this evening to see if I can kill that doe ;)

thick woods, low light, small antlers.
If I were hunting somewhere where it was illegal to shoot a buck I would of taken a second and third look to make sure it didn't have antlers. But since I was hunting my own property and anything was legal I took the shot.
when I decide to kill a particular deer i focus on the kill zone and NEVER look at the head.
I've passed on many, many "does" only to find out that they indeed had antlers.
Theres no telling how many of the does you (or anyone else) see were really bucks.

lol, yeah, even a blind hog finds a nut every now and then.

Yeah ,I was pretty surprised at the size of the wound myself. I do remember and from the looks of the exit wound that he was quatering away from me.
It always amazes me how much damage a good, sharp broadhead can do. I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end that's for sure.
To beat it all this deer didnt even react to the shot that most mortally hit deer do. He simply jumped at the shot,walked off, laid down and died. I was second guessing the shot till i saw blood on his side.
Thanks for the congrats everyone, I appreciate it. Theres not much I would rather do than spend time in the woods chassing these great animals that the good Lord has seen fit to provide for us.
