It happened to me / I'm an idiot!

Decided last night that I would do a morning sit as the temps are going to be great. I roll up to the property at 5:50 and begin unloading the truck, turn on the hand warmers, get cold weather boots on etc. etc. (you probably are guessing where this is going) go to pull out my rifle and...... it's at home toasty warm in the garage where I sat it while loading up at 4:30 :). Ah well, guess it just wasn't meant to be. Sure am happy I didn't make a long drive though, only 40 minutes one way. Now I can sit at home and watch the big guy come in on my trail cam LOL.

Never left my weapon, but I've forgotten plenty of other stuff. A buddy left his shotgun at my house and realized it at the lake.

Left my bow in the truck at catoosa one year. Didn't realize till I got 20 ft up the tree. lol

Before we lived on our farm, I never forgot my weapon. I did once leave the mag for my oldest daughter's A bolt micro hunter at the house. Left her in the stand in the dark and ran back to the house and got it. Think she was 12 or 13 at the time. She killed a doe that morning... Have left my phone behind several times, wife wants me having it with me at all times these days.

I probably wouldn't do that if I couldn't park my truck inside though.

Usually my lunch and thermos full of coffee is the only thing I don't have in the truck already.

Did you at least do what the young guys call an observation sit while you were there?

Seriously considered an observation sit but decided I'd stay out of the area until Friday.

Don't feel bad. This was me Tuesday. I had 3 in my pack so I could still hunt but I walked about 30 minutes from my truck and lost every single one. That's never happened before, never lost a single bullet this way. I guess it was just hitting my hip perfectly. Didn't notice till I got seated.

I have one of those on several of my rifles too.
You can rotate it around to the other side, and see if that helps.

I'm right handed on everything but shoot left handed. I was carrying it on my right shoulder with it rubbing my side. New pants with my phone in a side pocket. I think the hard phone was hitting it but who knows. Dang red tip Hornadys are expensive to leave all over the woods.

Took my son out for a Sunday afternoon hunt from the river. Had his 6.5G Howa mini and my 308 Win. Got off the boat, grabbed his gun and put ammo in the mag (not in the chamber). Grabbed my gun, went to pull out the ammo and… I had forgotten it back home. That was a first for me.

I wasn't at all upset because I told him all along that I was wanting him to shoot and not me, and this just made it to where that was now a necessity. Didn't see a single deer but we had a great afternoon hunt watching squirrels, tweetie birds, an owl, great blue herons, etc. I enjoy my time in God's creation whether I expect to kill a deer or not

I've did it when I was on a lease on the mountain above Spring City , Grandview I think iscthe community....I just drove home got my gun went back and could of killed a small 5 poiht. Close to an hour one way . That's sad when you forget your weapon.

Years ago...when step son was a teen. We were hunting same property...but not together.
He shot one and was dragging it out...about a mile out. I met up with him and helped drag. Got it loaded and enroute to check station...about 30 mins away. Just as we were turning in it dawned on me. Where's your rifle...MY rifle? (he was using one of mine). He thought about it for a minute....back there in the woods...where I shot him! Uuugggg!!

Found a ruger 77 7mag leaned against a gate on the side of the road one time, just luckily it was me that found it and knew who hunted that farm, should have seen their face when they came to the front door and i was holding their rifle

Tuesday was a crap day. I needed to be in the woods but only had hour and a half that evening but I took it and went. Uneventful sit, only saw a handful of squirrels and heard a owl on the way out. Got home and was putting my gun up when I realized I forgot to even load it! Thankfully nothing came by, but that wasn't the point of that outing anyway so it worked out. A bad day turned into a good day in the woods and I even got a laugh out of it. Had to shake my head at myself!

Same thing happened to me once. They make the shell holders now with a flap and a hook to secure it. I quickly bought one.

I drove 2 hrs to my lease only to realize I left the gate keys at home on my other set of truck keys.
