what cleaning the carbs will do. If y`all remember I made a post about thinking I needed to replace my fuel line. Wal, I did and it didn`t help. So I did the unthinkable for me. My nephew and I took the carbs off and cleaned them. We were actually able to take them apart and put them back together. Then They actually worked. We put the muff on and she fired right up and ran. Now to get to the lake.

I wish that solved the problem on my 5 hp motor.... But I don't know what I'm doing :D glad you got it worked out.

That`s the reason they gave me job down at the plant. They knowed I didn`t know nuffin bout macheenry. They also knowed I liked to watch other folks work so they made me a foreman cause I could say "GET ER DONE!"

What were your symptoms again? I got a motor that will run (most of the time) if I give it a lot of throttle. But if I let it idle - it dies.

I was thinking my problem might be the fuel line but I can't see/find any cracks. I've been tempted to take the carb off and soak it and put it back together.

When in doubt about fuel delivery, I have learned the hard and expensive way.

Just pony up and get new lines, DON'T go with cheap materials either.
Removing and opening up the carbs and soaking them in carb cleaner will do amazing things. The ethanol used today is horrendous for boat carbs.
