Is this cold snap going to kill the Crappie bite tomorrow?

Saturday is going to be the most clam Saturday we have had all spring and I plan on fishing all day. But knowing my luck the fish will have lock jaw..

It did last Saturday, we caught a few crappie but they were caught at all depths from 16 ft to 2 ft at Reelfoot. The guys that I talked to that did the best last Sat caught them from 4 ft to 1 ft jigging in the ditches and trees.

We caught them good in 4'-5' water depth last Saturday, a friend tried the ditches and only caught one, but his friend caught a limit the day before in the ditches.

I talked to 2 different boats that were jiging the trees last Sat and had there limit of 60 before lunch time. It sounded like most consistent depth was 4 to 5 foot last weekend but we tried a few spots and caught most of our fish in 8 to 10 ft from daylight to 9am. After that it got really slow for us.

I started out at that depth as well, caught some fish but they all ran small, after moving to the 5' depth I started picking up better fish, 13-3/4" 1Lb.8oz. was my biggest fish, not a monster but way bigger than the 9" fish I was catching out in deeper water.

I caught one 16 in around 2lbs in 10ft , it was a female full of eggs. We caught a big male black crappie around 15 in when we moved to 4 or 5 ft but that was the last fish we caught before we decided to quit early.
