Short answer, but not mean to be smart. No not the same. Go to Remington cite and look up products (firearms and then center fire rifles) and you can see the difference.

No, I dont think you are being smart. But I have looked there. It appears to me that the 700 has three main categories ADL, BDL, and CDL. Then sub categories of those groups.
The BDL has an internal magazine and a floor plate so does the VLS.
I can give Remington a call Monday; I just thought someone here may know off the top of their head.

Dave, if the gun you have is clip fed and looks like the one for
the BDL, I will probably work. I do not have a clip fed remington myself. Take a look here:

Agree. As I know of no difference in the 700 Detacable "Clips" except Short /Long Action.

However If it isn't a "Clip" model then you will need a "Floor Plate and the "Clip" and do some changeing to the stock.HS Precision offers a change over kit but you still have to do a little work on the stock from what they told me but not as much as using Remington parts to do so.Been thinking about changeing one over myself but haven't yet.

that is for the BDL Detachable magazine which the VLS is not,,may be convertable but not on a stock VLS,,it has the swinging floorplate of the conventional BDL.
