Is it me, or should a rifle come with iron sights? Seems like the only one I can find that's likely to come with iron sights is the lever actions. I've been looking for a bolt gun and seems like nobody puts irons on their guns anymore.Maybe it's just a peeve I have, but if something happens (drop the rifle, bump the scope, etc) and there's no iron sights to use, what then?
 
The rem 700 is about the only 1 I see with them.lever gun is the only 1 i have besides the AR with them. Oh & my savage smokeless has them.

im just s.o.l. cause i cant see the dang tiny sights any more if i bump my scope lol
 
I'm with you 30-06! I'm looking for a good 30-06 b/a right now that has iron sights on it, but I'm afraid its not gonna be found. Target shooters may not like them, but I've always appreciated having see-thru mounts for the scope, so that I could drop down to open sights for a close, or maybe moving shot.

the 700 BDL Custom Deluxe has sights,,the CZ 550 also,the Model 7 blue/walnut has sights also but is short action only
 
Want to sell it? :) My little 710 doesn't have them, and I really miss them. I can't keep both eyes open and follow a moving target, as I'm right handed, and left eye dominant, and being able to close my left eye and use open sights really helps ME gain the sight picture for the shot on moving targets.
 
I just feel like most gun producers don't include them from the factory. I figured the 700 would but all these new "budget" rifles don't - I guess you get what you pay for but it doesn't cost them that much to throw a post up front and a spring leaf on the back of the barrel
 
I prefer not having them. How many of us carry a screw driver to get your rings off if you drop your gun. Very few I'm sure. Most of us don't. Maybe in the truck but not in our pocket. It's more of a hassle taking it of and putting it back on and sighting in than it is to check zero. I hunted with a rifle a couple years ago with a scope and see thru rings. Had iron sights. Buck came in and scope was foggy. Never thought to use the irons till he was gone. I've never used them other than on a 22
 
I had the same problem. I was loking for a few rifles and everyone i looked at didn't have no sights what so ever. i talked to a gun that owns a gun shop and the only gun he said is coming out with them is over 900.00 bucks.

but you can have it drill and tapped for sights. that's what i'm going to do when i get a chance to save the money up.
