While we were doing some underground work at the university of Memphis I found a coke bottle hat is glass and it says Memphis Tennessee on the bottom of it. It is a 15.6 fluid oz bottle. I didn't know that coke was bottled in Memphis before.

When I lived just north of Overton Square I found some bottles in my yard with the Gay-Ola name and Memphis. Looked it up and it was a soda that was around from about 1910 to the 20's.

If you ever find an amber colored Coke bottle they bring good money. It seems that the 2 guys that concocted the Coke formula had a disagreement about what color glass protected the product best from sunlight. So, one guy had some amber bottles made in the Shoals area of Alabama. I believe Sheffield or Florence is where they were made. A friend of mine sold one for $400 a few years ago.

Coke used to bottle coke in towns everywhere.. I have several coke bottles with "Pulaski Tn " on the bottom...

lots of that style Coke bottles have a date code. Look a little lower than the main embossed Coke label for a 2 digit code, or two 2-digit codes separated by a dash. Think that is a date code.
