Um, I do not believe it. If somehow the urge to breed "runs out", okay I get it. Just don't think that can happen, buck deer lifespan is too short.

I firmly believe that there are some bucks that do not participate in the breeding process ever. I further believe there are additional bucks that do not actively participate (breed every now and then, but do not go rut crazy) and then there are the rut crazed bucks that roam all over breeding every doe possible (the ones most hunters like). In essence, I truly believe the deer population functions very similar to the human population in some ways. For example, not every 20 year old boy is actively seeking the opposite sex and not every 60 year old man is sitting on the couch with little to no regard for the opposite sex. You have your extremes on both ends of the spectrum. I personally believe there are all types at all ages, but the majority in the middle (rut crazed bucks) is what most think, and wish, all are doing. My .02

DNA parentage studies find this to be absolutely true. Some bucks never produce an offspring in their entire lifetimes, even bucks that live to maturity.

Same in about any species of mammal. Not all cars start, even ones that are still young.
