i'm in Jackson County. looking for a gunsmith/gun shop to drill my stock and install a barrel band on a Winchester 94. who do y'all recommend?

Good luck finding anyone competent in this area. Bugholes might do it for you, but it wouldn't surprise me if they'd rather not.

I'm thinking you may be better off getting a Boyds stock and keeping your original un-modified.
Besides, there may not be someone to do the work.

thanks for replying guys. a google search turned a a smith in Smithville which isn't to far so i'm gonna give him a call. my other option is a no drill sling which i seen on you tube.

I have an Unkle Mike's band swivel on one of my guns. No problems and easy to install. Measure your magazine diameter. This one is specific to your gun model . It fits magazine tube diameters .645" to .660"

You can also use the split model, which is what I have on my over/under. It works well also. It states that it will fit diameters .630" to .675"

You might want to give Bass Pro a call. They used to do work like that if you bought the parts from them. But I don't know if they still do.
