Neighbor called this morning and reported a deer wandering near the road, acting unusual. They thought it was injured.
I went over and took a look and he was now in the woodline, small buck.
As I got closer I noticed that he was apparently blind. He would stumble and walked into every tree. Got tangled in vines and would turn toward any sound. I went ahead and put him down as he didn't need to get on the road or become coyote bait. Looks like he has lots of small fight wounds.
Then I realized he has to get reported. (I should have thought of that first.)
TWRA Region II doesn't answer phone before 0800, have now left a message.
Did I just burn a buck tag on this deer?
