Increasing weight of buttstock?

I have a Mossberg 500 that is somewhat uncomfortable to shhot with heavy loads. I have removed the recoil pad and noticed a hollow cavity in the synthetic buttstock. Any suggestions on what I can add inside to increase the weight thus hindering some of the recoil?

BTW, I used to have a 500 that I wound up getting rid of because of the recoil and rattling forearm. I wasn't able to do anything about either problem.
It patterned turkey loads great but it kicked like a mule!!
I carried it twice in the woods and that rattling forearm drove me nuts!
Two issues with one gun? Nope, it needs to belong to someone else.

Fill the cavity full of #7 lead shot and place a small piece of duct tape over the hole then reinstall the buttplate.

If you want it permanent use lead shot mixed with epoxy. Better want to keep it though.

You can do the above mentioned, but line the wall of the cavity with a layer of heavy mil. paper (butcher paper with the wax on one side works very well) Then fill with mixture, when done, insert a sheet metal screw (@ 2" or longer) into the mixture and let dry. The screw can be removed leaving the threads, then used later on to remove (pull) the insert out of the cavity if now happy with the weight or results.
