Anyone using any loads from it? 7mminatree told me he had an awesome load for his .243 using 44gr and a 100gr pill. This powder isn't even listed in my books for the .243 even. Just wondering if anyone else had come across a good load with it.
I use it in my 257 Weatherby. I use the loads from the IMR website. It's the only powder I've used in that cartridge in fact. When I got 3,590 fps out of the 100 grain bullets and 3,290 with the 120's, and have a 1/2" group size load with each, I couldn't see the point in continuing to experiment.
But for the 243, I wouldn't think IMR 7828 would be such a good powder. It's very slow burn rate makes it more suitable for the cartridges that used to be called overbore - i.e. the ridiculous sized magnums.
Regarding my above post, I just went to the IMR website and they do have some 7828 loads for the heavier bullets in a 243. They don't give the best velocities but they are not bad either.
Okay, before I tried a boatload of RL19 in my 243, I was exclusively a 100 grain partition over Nosler Book max IMR7828
and the FPS of 3100+ i always thought was truly superior.
And BTW, it was dead-on the most accurate 100 grain partition load I ever shot.
