Got to play with the new to me old marlin 336 30-30 with williams fp sights this evening. I'm very impressed how accurate the open sights are.
You can look up the gun in my old posts.
The first time out with I was concentrating too much on centering the front sight in the aprature and could barely get 5 shots on paper. Tonight I figured it out, don't pay so much attention to the aprature.
This target is 100yds. The bottom right shot on paper and shoot n see was aiming at bottom of black circle. The upper 3 are aiming dead center.
Never thought I would be able to be that accurate with iron sights.
Gonna have to try for a couple groups and dail it in a little better next chance I get. Looks like 3 moa or better might not be out of reach with a little practice.

you should not be looking at the rear sight at all,,the front sight should be in focus and the target a little fuzzy when you get use to it you will see why they named them Fool Proof,,

nice outfit and good shootin

If I get addicted to this open sight thing I'm blaming you big.

Wanting to put a big target at about 50yds and play with the sights to see how much adjustment they have and figure out how much each click moves poi.

Think my next project is gonna be a 22lr of some sort since I don't have one. Well the wife has a marlin 60 but I want my own. Like bolt action but might go semi have to see what kinda deal finds me. :)
