Put food plot in Wednesday was going to mix my own up but i have had several buddies tell me to go with the Imperial No Plow.I sprayed my 1 acre plot about 3 weeks ago and im ready to disc and plant.So what is your guys take on the no plow??
 
It's like anything you plant for deer, they'll eat it good in some places but not in others. I had great luck with it last year in my more secluded plot. It was the 1st food plot I've ever had that the deer actually ate to the ground before Spring. I increased the size this year as a result. I mixed in some WI chicory too since I had a couple bags already and have had great results with deer eating the chicory.

I read this a lot, BSK, but have never pursued this route. I would think there would be some minimum quantity you'd have to be planting before you'd save money. What I mean is this. Take your average hunter planting 1/2 acre of WI No Plow. He can get one bag at his CO-OP for say $35 and be done. Can you really buy seeds for all the individual plants in the mix in small enough quantities to duplicate such a small bag all for so little money? I'm sure that if you are planting 20 acres, it would be possible.

The problem i have with most of the "no plow" mixes is they have a high percentage of rye grass. Yeah it grows and greens up but is of no value to deer. I prefer to buy my own seed so I can mix what I want and avoid the "filler " type seeds.
