SS tumblers have to rotate not vibrate. This is why you can build your own-milk jugs, soda bottles, Great big diameter PVC with a cap on one end and threaded cap on other is very popular.

Water, Dawn dishwashing liquid, and some citric acid is your bath. Dump the SS & brass, rotate for several hours.

Cleans inside, cleans outside, cleans primer pocket. Rinse thoroughly then dry in sunshine, use a fan, whatever. Don't put in clothes dryer. Don't use compressed air.

Only downside is the pins can get jammed in a case.....I understand this is rare.

The larger initial outlay is really not that much more than a decent vibratory tumbler and media. The real payoff is you don't have to pick media out of flash holes. A side benefit is you don't have to clean media dust out of your die sets.

As MUP illustrates you can turn very tarnished brass into signalling devices. SS pins are a handloaders dream

I sure hid that money fast enough! I had some cashback money due from the cc and decided to use it for an Amazon purchase to get the tumbler. I think I paid $69 for it actually.

What you need is the citric acid used during canning to stop fruit from becoming discolored.

Lemi Shine is one but there are MANY.

The problem is how much citric to x water. The solution is to Inquire of MUP.

Okay MUP, (1) how much water goes in your Frankford? (2) How much of the provided citric goes in the water? By weight please if they have it listed. (3) If they say the whole pack how much of that whole pack is citric if they list the ingredients.

So from what MUP has we can say (for example ONLY) that MUP is told to use 1/4 cup of citric to one container of water. And that particular citric is 50% of the package, then if you purchased a package of citric of greater or lesser strength you would have a great starting point for your own bath mix.

Walmart is one place to find citric acid. Order and pick up at store.

I have it on good word you can re-use the bath. Filter the water to remove lumps and grit and refresh the soap.

Coffee filter in a strainer.

Everyone that has a Frankford says it is the real deal. I keep expecting the RCBS Sidewinder to drop in price but so far, nothing. I love the homebrewed SS tumblers. I think there are a few threads here....

Directions say 3 caps full, a cap from a 2 liter bottle shown in the illustration. And this is only the solution they sell. I used half of the little packet they provided and had stellar results. Looks like about a 2 gallon container to tumble in also. Fill to nearly full with water. I wonder if the lemon dish soap would work?

I've been using SS media for about 5 years now and 2 hours is the longest I've ever run a batch. In my opinion, any more time than that is a waste

IIRC we have the same size FA that was on sale awhile back. I picked up a recipe over at Cast Boolits that calls for (after loading SS media and cases) water to the bottom of the neck, 2 teaspoons Dawn and 1/4 teaspoon of LemiShine. It works real good and ran for 1 hour.
Walmart had the LemiShine powder (12oz by weight) and at 1/4 teaspoon per tumble, its going to last a loooooooooong time.
