Tried at the end of the season last year to shoot a doe with my daughters cz 527 youth mdl carbine chambered in 223. Trying out the 62gr barnes tsx, want to see how they perform on a deer. I couldn't make it happen last year. So I figure it's getting late in the season this year, came out this morning with hopes to try it out. Had 2 does come in behind me 10 yds, but I couldn't squeeze the trigger. It was a young doe with this year's fawn. I hated to orphan it, plus I feel guilty about shooting a doe since we got hit with ehd this year. 5 years ago, the thought wouldn't have crossed my mind and I'd have dropped the hammer. Time changes a man.

Yes they do. Restraint, for whatever reason, is a virtue. Much easier to pull the trigger than it is not to.

Glad you did not shoot Cec. We need to give the does a break. TWRA will most likely not change the regulations next year to help them out.

I agree with the comments above. I won't kill a momma with a little one around. Even if the little one is old enough to fend for itself. I'm not that bloodthirsty. Just proves you have a good heart. I respect that.

I can't do it either. If I was starving and had to have the meat I would but that's not the case. If others want to that's their choice.
