Got this one early this morning, back home on the couch drinking a cup of coffee by 8:00 [Eastern time].
Heard him gobble way off in the distance at daylight. Called loudly to him with no response. Few min later he gobbled again a little closer, called again and he gobbled immediately. I sat silent figuring I would let him make the next move. He finally came into view and when he got behind a tree I raised the old 870. When he stepped out I was ready and let-er-rip.
Just my second bird for the season but #3 off of our 60 acres counting the wife's bird. I figure that's enough, gotta leave a few for seed!!
Congrats to everyone else who have filled a tag. Good luck to those who are still trying.
Vital statistics..............10" beard 1' hooks. Didn't weigh him but he's a heavy old bird.

Congrats, That would be the best to be able to walk outside in your pj's and if you hear a bird suit up if not go back to sleep.

LOL, I have done it like that before. [not this year] The other morning I took the pup out for her morning pee and an ole tom was gobbling his fool head off. Just for giggles I owl hooted at him and he would answer every time. I gave him a pass that morning though.
