I have a chance to go next week hunting in southern Illinois, it's early for seeing many big ones. Trying to determine if it's worth it. Any advice ? I'm only going for 4 day's and room is free.

Outfitters in Illinois especially know where their herd is quite frequently. If the guides tell you they haven't seen much out of a stand. Go hunt it.

If you want to shoot a buck, you will have about $450 in licenses to hunt those days, and more if you buy their annual license.

They are in their harvest up there right now, and that can lead to some hot food sources on just cut fields, and some movement as they find new bedding areas and cover as the corn is cut.

There is always the possibility of seeing a nice deer up there.

I would go but just don't get your hopes up not a sure thing and they got hammered by ehd last year. we went to pike county and while a good hunt it was kind of a let down to.
