So I got a chance to go to Maine this weekend to see some people I used to work with. Since I have never been ice fishing I contacted a guide (got VERY lucky on a really good one) and we had a friggin' blast. Ended up with 10 pike and lost one. This ain't like fishing in Tennessee, boys! The guide was very happy with the size which ranged from 24 to 32 inches. I will be back.

Where were you fishing, guessing Central Maine? I am from Maine originally. I miss ice fishing, skiing, and snowmobiles, but for only about two weeks, the reality of Maine winter sets back in. Great place to visit tough living there from December to April

Grew up in northern Minnesota. We could always tell what kind of winter it would be if we could pull the fish house out on the lake by Thanksgiving with the snowmobile. Great times out there ice fishing! Snowy version of deer camp (with holes in the floor). ;)

I didn't really hear the ice make much noise. It was fairly windy so that may be why. I was probably most surprised by how rough it was on the snowmobile due to the underlying ice.

Next time I will have a felt insole in my boots. I think my feet got so cold I did not feel it until I warmed up some.
