I was set up in a pine thicket off the end of a dried up, overgrown pond. There was one small pool of water left in it about 15 feet square. A few fresh scrapes, several fresh and old rubs, and a few trails and fresh droppings surrounded me. Historically a lot of bucks work through the area. The water was almost under my stand and there were about 500 frogs of various species. It sounded like they were all trying to out sing each other all morning. It's hard enough to hear deer movement in wet pines but this was crazy loud. The only deer I saw was a monster doe that walked up 15 yards behind me. I just happened to turn around at the same
time she looked up. Game over. I did get to watch 3 water moccasins frog hunting below me all morning. I got down and moved my stand into the hardwoods. I found a shed antler, a few scrapes and several fresh rubs on some 4" cedars all in an area I've seen big bucks in the past. I hung my stand and a camera. Maybe next trip....
