I Shot a 191

We had a IBS match at MSSA this weekend and I shot my first score of a 50 on on target and a total of a 191 on all 4.
Funny part is it was NEW Lapua Brass and a Powder that I had never used for shooting 600 yds with. One guy there shot a World Record .4 inch group at 600 yds. Heck I was happy with my 1.5 inch group.
I would hate to see what this new load will do with fire formed brass and s little tweaking.

good going man,,I would like to try that one time at least,,score sounds pretty dang good and 1.5 groups are really good,,,what was your 4 target group agg??

I have shot some 20 shot aggs here at home in the 2 inch range but I have never been to a registered match,

I thought Rodney Wagner held the WR group with something like .335 ,,5 shots in under a half inch at 600 yards is hard to comprehend ,,

The gentleman you are referring to has a .3 inch group with a light gun
My group agg was around 2.5
Still pretty good for somebody that has only been shooting BR for 2 years

The VERY best 5 shot 100 yd group I ever shot with my Rem 40X was .190 and even that would open up to 1.14 at 600 yards - and that's ignoring the effects of wind. .4 inches at 600 is darned near perfect! :shock: I don't think I ever had another that went under .25 and most were more like .375. A group aggregate of 2.5 at 600 is outstanding shooting.

IMO 2.5 agg is really good,,I understand most matches it takes under 2.00 to win but I would be tickled to death at 2.5 agg in match conditions,,it isnt like cherry picking conditions and only shooting when everything is just right,,,when they call your relay to the line you go shoot,,no excuses ,,
I been shooting some UBR score at 100-200 yards and practicing and doing load work at home and shooting in a match are totally two different things for sure,,

what was you shooting ??

I found that smallest group and it's marked .21 inches rather than .190 as I stated above. This is for a 22 CHeetah Mrark II (40 degree shoulder version) in the Remington factory 22-250 barrel with a 1-14" twist barrel. Jim Charmiceal recommended a 1-16" twist for the CHeetah but I wasn't willing to spend the money to put a new barrel on a brand new 40X. Anyhow, the load that shot that group was with a standard Sierra 55 grain Spt boat tail - 40.5 gr IMR 4320. I could never get that same load to shoot like that again oddly enough. Had good luck for a while with the same load except using a 52 grain Sierra Match bullet. Have one group here in my record book with 4 shots in .10 inches at 100yds. But I wasn't as much interested in tiny groups as I was a good big field ground hog gun so I gravitated to Sierra 50 gr Blitzs bullets for their explosive expansion then later when they started coming apart and keyholing (different lot of bullets) I switched to Nosler 55 grain ballistic tips for the most part. I got good groups from some Berger match bullets but once I did some trajectory test beyond 100 yards I went back to the BTips. In almost all my loads I used IMR 4320 because Jim Carmichael recommended it for ease of ignition with the small primer cases. The recommended case for the CHeetah being the old Remington BR Basic case, which was a 308 with small primer pocket and made to more precise tolerances than normal cases. Part of the case forming process required case neck reaming in a special die and I also turned necks and uniformed primer pockets.
