Have you tried a different ammo? I had some Winchester (I think, but not 100% sure?) .22 ammo that wouldn't eject properly because the cases were swelling when fired. It was the ammo, not the gun. I try to only use CCI Mini Mag if I can get it. I've never had an issue with it in any .22 I own.
If it's not the ammo Smith & Wesson used to do warranty repairs no matter how old the gun was or whether or not you were the original owner. Their customer service has dropped a bunch and that may no longer be the case. But I would still want their gunsmiths to do repairs.
