So this is why people tell me to upgrade to 65lb braid for frog fishing huh? I was stubborn and chose to keep using 30lb braid and this is what happened Saturday. I didn't see the fish but I could tell by the pull she was no 12 incher. I saw a big wake headed right toward the frog, a big splash, then it was on! I'll never know because I couldn't control her, she wrapped around lilypads and broke off. I removed the sound in the video to keep the NSFW language I might have used when I realized what happened. :mad:

Needless to say I bought some 65lb that night.
 
It's so much fun. I just started trying it this Summer so I missed the first 15 or so strikes on the frog by setting the hook too soon. Now that I've learned to be less trigger happy I'm connecting more and it's a blast.
 
I had 50 lb break on me two weeks ago. Fish was head shaking running toward the boat and it broke. Still scratching my head on that one.

Yeah, it's not just the strength rating, it's the abrasion resistance.

Also, if you've been pulling through some nasty stuff, check the line for frays and such. Too many folks are unwilling to re-tie, and it costs them fish.

Yea I think that may have been another problem. I might want to not make such long casts in this stuff to eliminate how much I have to pull through when I do hook a fish. The water here is crystal clear, like as clear as Dale Hollow, so I felt like making really long casts was needed but I guess in that thick stuff I may stay a bit more hidden.
