Velvet makes antlers look thicker than they actually are, but this dude has bases big as his ears, wider than his ears, and tines have just barely began growing. Gona be exciting seeing him grow over next couple months. I think he'll be a clean 8pt., albeit a very big one!

Ohio. Here's a pic that shows his width. He's the deer in the background with his nose up in a licking branch. His rack looks like moose horns sticking out. I'm guessing spread will be pushing close to 2ft. I tried adding a zoomed in snippet but it looks blurry on here.

I'm a little skeptical as well, but it's early so I'm still hopeful. Those pics were on June 10th. This pic is June 22 and he put on a couple inches of tine in that 12 days. Brows didn't grow but the G2's and G3's did. If he continues the same growth rate I'm guessing he'll end up 8"-10" G2's & 4"-5" G3's by August. But that's a big "if". I have no idea how steady antler growth is or if it comes in spurts or bell curve. Every buck seems a little different. Still looks like he's going to be a clean 8pt. I think by this point it would be obvious if there was going to be anything else.

He looks to be a great deer. But…This is one of the reasons I hate putting out cameras early and quit doing it almost 20 years ago. Some bucks get my hopes up thinking they'd be giant, to only stall and be a mediocre deer. Others I thought would be a nothing burger turned into big dudes. It got my mind twisted lol. End of July for me now for cameras being deployed, and you pretty much know what the end result will be. Even though you will have one here and there that will PUT ON growth the last month of antler growth.

Hope he keeps growing for you!
