Yesterday morning I killed a main frame 8 with a 2.5" sticker. He scored 127 7/8".Our club rule is you can't take a second buck until you've taken a doe. Normally I've killed a doe or few by now but not this year. So this morning I went after a doe. It looked like all I was going to see was a small 4 pointer when here they came. A big buck was pushing 4 does right behind my stand. I judged him at 140+. I was trying desperately to get on one of the does but he was working them like a cutting horse grunting every step of the way. They were going helter skelter through the timber and I could never get a shot off. I'll have to admit one eye was on the buck the entire time which didn't help my concentration....and then they were gone. I just stood there shaking my head. I had hoped maybe they'd loop back through but it didn't happen so I finally climbed down and did a little still hunting. A doe ran by me and boom my doe obligation was met. Back in the saddle again hunting bucks. Before leaving I shifted the stand to where it should have been in the first place and maybe with a hot doe in the neighborhood I'll bump heads with the buck again in the morning. This time he won't be so lucky.
